Artist Biography
Susan Schmalzel, also known as Riverhu (a name derived from a nearby waterway), was born 1957 in southeastern Michigan, U.S.
A life long amateur photographer focusing on images of nature and landscapes.
First computer was obtained in 2001 and soon after discovered digital and fractal art.
Artist Statement
It feels like a natural transition for me to go from composing an image within the viewfinder of a camera to creating a digital composition on a computer. I have found so much freedom of creativity and flexibility through the digital medium. I enjoy the creative process.
To me exploring fractals is like a journey into colors, shape, textures and design. Not always knowing what the destination will be when the image is finished.
